흥미로운 기사가 떴습니다.
조지 루카스와 디즈니 CEO인 로버트 아이거를 중심으로 루카스필름이 어떻게 디즈니에게 넘어갔는지 그 전후 스토리와 과정, 그리고 디즈니의 향후 스타워즈 시리즈 계획을 다룬 블룸스버그 기사입니다.

먼저 루카스필름에게 제안을 넣은 건 역시 디즈니였군요.
하긴 픽사와 마블에서 워낙 재미를 봤으니.
루카스필름을 넘기기 전에 에피 7의 각본이 이미 서 있었을 뿐만 아니라
계약이 성사되기 전에 벌써 감독으로 쌍제이가 내정되어 있었답니다.

아이거의 “나는 다스베이더였다”라는 말이 인상깊군요.
어쨌든 “스타워즈” 팬으로서 제가 가장 관심을 가진 것은 이 부분.

Even so, he’s attended story meetings for the new film, adjudicating the physical laws and attributes of the Star Wars universe. “I mostly say, ‘You can’t do this. You can do that,’ ” Lucas says. “You know, ‘The cars don’t have wheels. They fly with antigravity.’ There’s a million little pieces. Or I can say, ‘He doesn’t have the power to do that, or he has to do this.’ I know all that stuff.”
Asked whether members of the original Star Wars cast will appear in Episode VII and if he called them before the deal closed to keep them informed, Lucas says, “We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison—or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation. So I called them to say, ‘Look, this is what’s going on.’ ” He pauses. “Maybe I’m not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them.” Then he adds: “I won’t say whether the negotiations were successful or not.”

그리고 무엇보다, 잘 하면 스타워즈 삼인방을 진짜로 한꺼번에 새 영화에서 보게 될 수 있을지도 모르겠습니다. 그것도 본인들 역할로. 으억.

디즈니 자체는 그리 탐탁지 않습니다.
